How To Come Out of Depression (Part 2)

 

 I'd actually never met anyone in depression because when you're depressed you are in your own world. I was sleeping all the time, didn't talk to anybody, and didn't go out of the house. I just didn't want to function. My brain was switched off. But when I saw the preacher’s testimony of what I was going through, I needed to know what he did to be free …

The first thing I heard was that we have to grow faith. This is something I never heard- that we have to grow faith, how faith comes, and what is faith. For me faith was faith. I didn't know that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Then he said Romans 10:17- "Faith comes by hearing and hearing BY the Word of God." .... He started explaining the meaning of the word 'BY'. For example I went to the doctor and came back home. Even though the doctor wasn't with me at home, his words and report was talking to me. Everyday I had to look at the report and see what pills to take. The doctor said I may not even get out of this. I may not have to stop taking the tablets. My doses were going higher and higher..... JUST like how the doctor's report talks to you, in the same way when you hear the Word of God, that Word of God talks to you.

How do you hear the Word? You're supposed to speak the Word and your inner ear begins to listen. When you hear someone else preaching you hear It from your outer ear. When I say It myself my inner ear is hearing It, my whole being is hearing It and the Word of God starts doing It's work.....

If I just listened to the TV retreats, would I remember?? I had to labour!

I had my own book when I was sick where I would write all the Scriptures pertaining to me which was shown on TV. It was told on the TV that I had to keep on speaking It, keep practicing It, memorize It, and make this Word a part of me and then only It's going to do It's work. I came to know it's going to take labour. It's not going to happen overnight.

If I have the knowledge of God I wouldn't have reached such a level. When you have knowledge of a subject are you worried? I am here to tell you that you don't have to reach this stage where I reached. You don't have to start being in that stage. Because you have the Word of God help you.
